unless the party or parties to be benefited shall first pay the
attorney who shall have the case in hand the legal fees and all
fees of clerks or sheriffs.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 538.
AN ACT to provide for the erection of an iron bridge over
the Patuxent river between Anne Arundel County and
Prince George's County, where the Governors bridge
formerly stood.

Bridge
to be built.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the County Commissioners of Anne Arundel
county and the County Commissioners of Prince George's
county, be and they are hereby authorized and required to
build a substantial iron bridge over the Patuxent river where
the Governors bridge formerly stood and which has been
recently destroyed.

prepared and
formulated,
etc,

SEC. 2. And be it enacted) That immediately after the
passage of this Act the County Commissioners of the said
respective counties shall employ an experienced bridge engineer
to prepare and formulate suitable plans and specifications for
said iron bridge with proper abutments and approaches thereto;
and it shall .be the duty of said bridge engineer so soon as
said plans and specifications shall be completed to report the
same with an estimate of the cost of said bridge in duplicate
to the County Commissioners of said counties, respectively,
for approval.

Advertise for
sealed
proposals.
|
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That upon the approval of the
plans and specification submitted by the said bridge engineer
the said County Commissioners of Anne Arundel county and
Prince George's county, respectively, shall jointly advertise in
such newpaper or newspapers and for such time as they deem
proper, for sealed proposals to build said bridge according to
the said plans and specifications ; and on the day named in
said advertisement therefor the said sealed proposals shall be
opened by the County Commissioners designated in said adver-
tisement, and upon the concurrence of the County Commis-
sioners of the said counties, respectively, the contract for the
erection of said bridge shall be let to the lowest responsible
bidder, in the discretion of said County Commissioners,
respectively.
