STATE OF MARYLAND.

CHAP. 533.

Authority to
sign, make
and execute
bail bonds,
etc.

as surety for the faithful performance, appearance and sur-
render of individuals as provided by any process of law or
order of Court of any State of the United States, or of the
United States Government, or of any territory or dependency
thereof, or of any foreign country, State or government, or of
any branch or part of any foreign country, State or govern-
ment.

Agents or
attorneys to
be appointed,

SEC. 19. And be it further enacted, That the directors of said
.company be and. the same are hereby, authorized and empow-
ered either at a general or special meeting to name, constitute
and appoint agents or attorneys in any of the counties, and
within any of the jurisdictions aforesaid, and to invest such
agents or attorneys with power and authority on its behalf as
surety to make, sign, execute, deliver, justify upon and attach
the corporate seal of said company to any bond, recognizance;
stipulation or contract within the scope of the chartered powers
of said company, and the said directors are further authorized
and empowered to provide that the execution by said agents
or attorneys of such bonds, recognizance, stipulations or con-
tracts shall be binding upon said company.

SEC. 20. And be it enacted, That the said company shall
have the power to act as agents for insurance companies, and
shall also have power to consolidate with any other company
or corporation having like or similar powers, upon such terms
as may be agreed upon by the majority of the stockholders of
such company or corporation.

Proviso.

SEC. 21. Provided, That said corporation shall be subject
at all times to the provisions of the Acts of 1892, chapters
109 and 279, or amendments or supplements thereto; pro-
vided, however, that nothing in this Act shall permit this
company to engage in a title or guarantee of title business at
the same time it is engaged in an auditing and fidelity busi-
ness as provided for in this Act and by the Act of eighteen
hundred and ninety-six, chapter one hundred and sixty, so
long as said Acts shall respectively remain in force.
SEC. 22. Provided, That this company shall not be per-
mitted to conduct its operations in Washington county.
SEC. 23. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 534.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 81
of Article 1 of the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Alle-
gany County," sub-title "Cumberland," and to add a new
Section to Article 1, to be designated as Section 70 A.
