issued hereunder shall expire on the first day of May next
succeeding their issue. The fee for such license shall be
thirty-six dollars, one-half of which shall by the clerk be
paid into the State treasury, and the other half thereof by said
clerk be paid to the County Commissioners of said county, to
be by the said County Commissioners appropriated to the
road fund of said county; provided, however, that if the
County Commissioners, at any time after the passage of this
Act, should issue and sell any bonds of the county for county
purposes, or in the event of their being any such bonds for
such purposes now outstanding, that the said one half of the
license fee herein provided to be paid to them shall be used,
first, in the payment of the interest on such bonds, and
secondly, as to any balance, for the purposes of any sinking
fond created for the payment of such bonds; and provided
further, that in case the stock of liquors kept on hand by any
licensee under this Act, shall exceed on the average the sum
of five hundred dollars, that the said licensee shall pay the
additional sum of thirty-five dollars, to be by the said clerk
of the Circuit Court paid into the State treasury. All
licenses taken out for a shorter period than one year shall
pay one-twelfth of the aforesaid amount of license fee for
each month that said license has to run.

79 C. No person who shall obtain such a license as herein
provided shall sell any liquor of any kind on any Sunday or
election day, nor to any minor, except upon the written order
of the parent or guardian of such minor, nor shall he permit
any card playing, throwing of dice or gambling of any kind,
in his or their store or barroom. Any violation of any of the
foregoing provisions shall subject the person so violating the-
same, on conviction, to a fine of not less than twenty-five
dollars nor more than fifty dollars; and the Circuit Court for
St. Mary's County, upon the suggestion of the grand jury,
may suppress the license of any party,. both as to the person
and the place licensed, and thereafter no license shall be
issued to such person or place for the period of one year.

79 D. If any person shall sell, barter, keep or offer for sale
any spirituous or fermented liquors or lager beer in quanti-
ties from one drink up to four gallons without having pre-
viously taken out a license therefor, as hereinbefore provided,
he shall, upon conviction, pay a fine of not less than fifty nor
more than two hundred dollars for each offense, together with
the costs of prosecution.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage, and all Acts or
parts of Acts inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed.
