been examined therein as a witness to corroborate his testimony
when impeached by proof of his own declaration or statement

CHAPTER 496.

AN ACT to repeal Sections 390 to 394, inclusive, of the
New Charter of Baltimore City, otherwise Article 4 of the
Code of Public. Local Laws, title "City of Baltimore," sub-
title " Miscellaneous Local Laws," "Cruelty to Animals."

CHAP. 498.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That sections 390 to 394, inclusive, of the New
Charter of Baltimore city, otherwise Article 4 of the Code of
Public Local Laws, title "City of Baltimore," subtitle
"Miscellaneous Local Laws," "Cruelty to Animals," be and
the same are hereby repealed.

Repeal.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall not
be construed to imply any exemption from procedure or
prosecution under the general laws, but that all cases of
cruelty to animals hereafter arising in the city of Baltimore
may be prosecuted under such general laws.

CHAPTER 497.
AN ACT to authorize and direct the County Commissioners
of Washington County to levy a sum of money to refund
to Lewis B. Rinehart, of said county, certain taxes erro-
neously paid by him.

How to
be construed.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the County Commissioners of Washington
county be and the same are hereby authorized and directed to
levy for the use of Louis B. Rinehart, of said county, the
sum of seven dollars and fifty-six cents, the amount of county
taxes erroneously paid by him for the year eighteen hundred
and ninety-eight.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
