CHAP. 899

and it shall be unlawful for him to receive or the said County
Commissioners to pay him any other or further compensation,
salary, fee or recompense of any kind whatever. It shall be
the duty of the sheriff to collect and pay over to the county
quarterly any appearance or other fee taxed as part of the
costs payable to the State's Attorney in any criminal case.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
upon the day of its passage.

CHAPTER 399.
AN ACT to add an additional Section to Article 10 of the
Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, title "Attorneys'
at Law and Attorneys in Fact," said additional Section to
come in immediately after Section 3 of said Article, and to
be known and designated as Section 3 A.

New section
added.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That an additional section be and the same is
hereby added to Article 10 of the Code of Public General Laws
of this State, title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact,"
said additional section to come in immediately after section 3
of said Article, and to be known and designated as section 3 A,
and to read as follows :

Women may
practice law.

3 A. Women shall be permitted to practice law in this State
upon the same terms, conditions and requirements and to the
same extent as provided in this Article with reference to men.
No discrimination shall be made on account of race, creed,
complexion or previous condition of servitude.
Approved April 8, 1902.

CHAPTER 400.

AN ACT to Incorporate "The Columbian Trust Company
of Baltimore City."

Body
corporate.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That W. Lee Carey, Samuel H. Sessions, Charles
W. Newton, Edward Z. Cole and John P. Lauber, and the
subscribers to the stock of the corporation hereby created,
and their successors and assigns, be and they are hereby
created a body corporate by the name of " The Columbian
Trust Company of Baltimore City," and by that name shall
have perpetual succession, and shall be competent to sue and
be sued in any Court of Law or Equity whatsoever ; to have
