SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to Incorporate the Berlin Electric Light and
Railway Company.

CHAP. 396.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Roger B. Adams, Levin Dirickson, Marion
G. Margie, Levin L. Dirickson, George W. Adams, W. G.
Kerbin and Charles E. Only, of Worcester county, in the
State of Maryland, and William H. Murphy, of the State of
Delaware, and their associates and successors, be and they are
hereby created, constituted and declared to be a body cor-
porate under the name and style of the Berlin Electric Light
and Railway Company, and under such name and style made
capable in law to sue or be sued, defend and be defended,
plead and be impleaded, at law or in equity; to have and to
use a corporate seal, and to alter and remove the same at
pleasure, and otherwise in all things to do, execute and per-

form, within the scope and for the object and purpose of the
said corporation, as follows, namely : To construct and lay
down and to operate a railway with the necessary and proper
switches, turnouts and any and all mechanical contrivances and
devices and appliances suitable to operate an electric railway,
and to run thereon cars and carriages drawn or propelled by
electric or other motive power in, through and between the
towns of Pocomoke City, Stockton, Girdletree, Snow Hill,
Newark, Berlin and Ocean City, with such laterals or branches
within said county of Worcester as said corporation may
deem advantageous to acquire, hold, manage, or to dispose of
any personal or real property essential or relevant to
the uses aforesaid, and also to acquire land adjacent to such
line of railway, or any lateral or branch thereof, and to

also have power to manufacture and sell and furnish such
quantities of electric light and electric power as may
be required or desired at any point in said county and
to contract for and furnish electric lights for lighting the
streets, roads, public or private buildings in said county, and
of any city or town therein, and for motive power and other
purposes, and said corporation is hereby authorized and
empowered to lay, purchase and construct or build lines and
conductors and conduits under, along or upon or over the
streets, squares, lanes, alleys, roads or ways whatsoever in said
