SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the said corporation is
authorized to take, have, hold and enjoy all such estates, real,
personal and mixed, as may be obtained by the investment of
its capital stock, and all other moneys or funds that may come
into its possession in the course of its dealings and business,
and the same to sell, grant, mortgage, lease and dispose of at
pleasure, and execute, acknowledge and deliver all deeds and
other instruments of writing concerning the same; provided,
however, that the said real estate so to be held by it shall be
only that occupied as its office and place of business, not
exceeding in value two hundred thousand dollars, and such
as may come into its possession in satisfaction of any debt due
to it upon mortgage, decree or judgment.

CHAP. 386.

Authority to
take, have,
hold and
enjoy estates.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That the said company shall,
have the further power to guarantee and indemnify any
person or persons, firm or corporation against any and all loss,
damage or liability arising from or occasioned by theft,
larceny, robbery or burglary.
SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That this, Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 387.
AN ACT to provide for the enlargement and improvement, of
the public school building in the city of Annapolis created
under the provisions of the Act of 1896, Chapter 275.

Further
powers
granted.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Dr. Frank H. Thompson, Frank A. Munroe
and John F. Strange are hereby appointed a commission for
the purpose of improving the building and grounds of the
public school in Annapolis in a manner hereinafter provided;
two of such commission shall constitute a quorum, and they
shall have the power to decide all questions within the scope
of their duties ; vacancies in the commission may be tilled by
the School Commissioners of Anne Arundel County.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That said commission shall as
speedily as possible secure the plans for the enlargement and
improvement of said school building and grounds, and as soon
as they have adopted a plan shall advertise for bidders and
award the contract to the lowest responsible bidder, and
require him to give to the State of Maryland for the proper
performance of his contract, which bond shall be liable on the
suit of the County Commissioners or the School Commissioners,
of Anne Arundel County for violation of any terms of the
contract.
