Regulate the
use of
Sidewalks
for the
use of signs,
sign posts,
awnings, etc.

146s. The Mayor and Council shall have power to regulate
by ordinance the use of sidewalks for the use of signs, sign
posts, awnings, awning posts, house troughs, telegraph poles,
trolley poles, electric light poles, telegraph wires, telephone
wires, telephone poles, electric light wires, and for any and all
other purpose, and to prohibit the erection of any posts, poles
or wires in, over or above any street, alley, highway, and to
compel the removal of the same; to regulate the use of the
streets, alleys and highways in said city for the use of rail-
ways or other tracks, gas or other pipes, telegraph, telephone,
electric or other wires and poles, in, under, over or upon the
same, and to require the same to be placed over or under
ground at their discretion ; to provide a series of conduits and
pipes under the streets, alleys and highways of said city, or
any part or parts thereof, for the use of telephone, telegraph,
or electric light and other wires or gas, either by constructing
said conduits and pipes itself or authorizing their construction
by such person or corporation upon such terms as may be
agreed upon.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 353.

AN ACT to repeal Section eight of Chapter five hundred
and forty-three of the Acts of eighteen hundred and
ninety, entitled an Act to provide for the speedy and
prompt collection of taxes in Worcester County, and to
enact in lieu thereof sections to be designated Sections 8 A,
8 B, 8 C and 8 D, and to repeal Section nine in said Chapter
and to re-enact the same with amendments, and to add an
additional Section thereto, to be designated Section 9 A.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

Repeal.

Maryland, That section eight of Chapter five hundred and
forty-three of the Acts of eighteen hundred and ninety, enti-
tled an Act to provide the speedy and prompt collection of
taxes in Worcester county be and the saint; is hereby repealed,
and the following sections enacted in lien thereof, to be
numbered sections 8 A, 8 B, 8 C and 8 D, and that section nine in
said chapter be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted
with amendments, and an additional section added thereto, to
be designated section 9 A, and to read as to said several sec-
tions herein so enacted and re-enacted, as follows :
