provided in sections five and six of the original Act of eigh-
teen hundred and eighty, chapter one hundred and forty-seven,
be and the same are hereby extended and made applicable to
any violation of the terms and provisions of said original Act
as amended, enlarged and extended by this amendatory Act;
provided, nothing in this Act shall prohibit any person or per-
sons selling cider and home-rnade wine in said district in
quantities not less than one gallon, when the same is not to be
used or consumed on the premises where sold.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
at the expiration of thirty days from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 343.
AN ACT to add a new Section to Article 33 of the Code of
Public General Laws, title "Elections," sub-title "Judges
and Clerks of Election," to follow Section 9 B, and be known
as Section 9 C.

CHAP. 3493

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new section be and the same is hereby
added to Article 33 of the Code of Public General Laws,
title "Elections," sub-title "Judges and Clerks of Election"
to follow section 9 B, and to read as follows:

Section 9 C. The judges and clerks appointed by the Board
of Supervisors of Election for Howard county shall not be
required to appear before the said board for the purpose of
examination nor to be sworn in as required by section 9 of
this Article, but the said Board of Supervisors of Elections
for Howard county before making appointments of any such
judges or clerks shall thoroughly inform themselves as to the
qualifications of the parties appointed, and shall not require
their attendance before said board for such examination, and
shall appoint only such persons as are known to them to pos-
sess the proper qualifications for the position to which they
are severally appointed, and the said persons may be sworn
in, either by said board or by a justice of the peace or notary
public of said county, and when sworn in by a justice or
notary shall tile with said board a certificate of such qualifica-
tion.

Chapter 619 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Mary-
