CHAP. 342.
Preamble.

result of said election, and by the publication of said certificate
as provided by said Act became a law for the said third elec-
tion district of Frederick county ; and
WHEREAS, In said Act cider and home-made wine are
excepted from its provisions, and the sale of which is not pro-
hibited ; and
WHEREAS, The sale of cider and home-made wine is con-
ducted in said election district, contrary to the wishes of a
majority of the registered and qualified voters thereof, to the
great disturbance of the peace, quiet and order, as well as to
the injury of the business interest of said election district;
and
WHEREAS, Petitions have been addressed to the General
Assembly, signed by a majority of the qualified voters of said
election district, asking that an amendatory Act be passed to
remedy the grievance complained of and growing out of the
sale of cider and home-made wine in said election district ;
therefore,

New section
added.

SECTION 1. Be it, enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That chapter one hundred and forty-seven of the
Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland, passed at the
January Session, eighteen hundred and eighty, be and the
same is hereby amended, so far as the same relates to the
third election district of Frederick county, known as Mid-
dletown Election District, by adding the following section, to
be known and designated as section seven :

Section 7. Be it enacted, That the terms and provisions of
said Act of Assembly passed at the January Session, eighteen
hundred and eighty, chapter one hundred and forty-seven, be
and the same are hereby amended, enlarged and extended, so
as to embrace and include therein the prohibition of the sale,
by any person or persons, or body corporate, directly or indi-
rectly, or the giving away at his, her or their place of business,
of any spirituous or fermented liquors or intoxicating drinks
of any kind, including all kinds of intoxicating cider -and
home-made wine, so far as said Act relates to and effects
the third election district of Frederick county, known as Mid-
dletown Election District, as fully and as amply as if the same
had been embraced, included, mentioned and particularly
described in sections three, four and five of said Act as origi-
nally passed and as if the same had been adopted by a
majority of the registered qualified voters of said election dis-
trict, and the clerk of the Circuit Court for Frederick county
had prepared a certificate proclaiming the result of said elec-
tion and cause said certificate to be published according to the
provisions of said Act, and that the prosecutions and penalties
