ipality or corporation or public officers, or any person or
persons acting for others having the custody of any bonds,
stocks, securities, moneys or valuables, shall be authorized to
deposit the same for safe keeping with said company.

CHAP. 208,

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That said company shall have
power to guarantee, endorse and secure the payment and
punctual performance and collection of notes, debts, bills of
exchange, contracts, bonds, accounts, claims, rents, annuities,
mortgages, choses in action, evidences of debt, certificates of
property of value, checks, and the title of property, indebted-
ness of individuals or companies, partnerships, contracts, loans
of governments, States, cities, countries and municipalities, on
such terms or commissions as may be agreed upon or estab-
lished by said company and the party dealing therewith.

SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That the company is authorized
to take, have, hold and enjoy all such estates, real, personal
and mixed, as may be obtained by the investment of its
capital stock, and all other moneys or funds that may come
into its possession in the course of its dealings and business,
and the same to sell, rent, mortgage, lease and dispose of at
pleasure on the market or otherwise acknowledge and deliver
all deeds and other instruments of writing concerning the
same; provided, however, that the said real estate so to be
held by it shall be only that occupied as its office and place of
business, and such as may come into its possession in satis-
faction of any debt due it upon mortgage, decree or judg-
ment.

SEC. 13. And be it enacted, That the directors of the cor-
poration hereby created shall have power to enact and adopt
such rules, regulations and by-laws for the government and
management of the said company and the conduct of its
business as they may deem advantageous to the interests
thereof ; provided, the same be not contrary to the law of the
land.
SEC. 14. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

Baltimore city, Maryland.
