CHAP. 2! 2.

CHAPTER 292.

AN ACT to add a new Section to Article 20, Code of Public
Local Laws, title "Somerset County," sub-title "Election
Districts," to follow Section 103 of said Article, and to be
known as Section 103 A.

Preamble-

WHEREAS, Owing to the difficulty of travel from distant
parts of Somerset county to the county seat, it is both expen-
sive and inexpedient that the judges and clerks of election, as
provided for by Section 9 of Article 33, Code of Public Gen-
eral Laws, shall appear before the Board of Supervisors of
Elections for the purpose of examination ; therefore,

New section
added.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted ly the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new section be and the same is hereby
added to Article 20, Code of Public Local Laws, title "Somer-
set County." sub-title ''Election Districts," to follow section
103 of said Article and to be known as section 103 A, to read
as follows :

examination.

103 A. The judges and clerks appointed by the Board of
Supervisors of Election for Somerset county shall not be
required to appear before the said board for the purpose of
examination, nor to be sworn in, as required by section 9 of
Article 33, Code of Public General Laws, but the members of
said board, before making appointments of any such judges
and clerks, shall thoroughly inform themselves as to the qualifi-
cations of the parties appointed, and shall not require their
attendance before said board for such examination, and shall
appoint only such persons as are known to them to possess the
proper qualifications for the position to which they are sever
ally appointed, and the said persons may be sworn in by any
member of said hoard, or by a justice of the peace or a notary
public of said county, and when sworn in by such justice or
notary, shall tile with said board a certificate of such qualifi-
cation.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 293.

AN ACT to add a Section to Article eleven of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title " Frederick County,"
sub-title " Frederick," to be known as Section 236 A.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted ly the General Assembly of
