CHAP. 284.
Authorized
to construct,
maintain
and operate
branches.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Baltimore and Potomac Railroad Com-
pany be, and it is hereby, authorized to construct, maintain
and operate one or more branches from any point or points
on its Washington branch, in the State of Maryland, to and
into the District of Columbia ; and for the purpose of, and in
respect of, the construction, maintenance and operation of
the same, the said Baltimore and Potomac Railroad Company
shall have, and may exercise all the powers, rights and privi-
leges which it now has under the Act of the General Assembly
of Maryland of 1853, chapter 194, and the amendments
thereto, or which it has under any other law of the State of
Maryland, and shall be subject to all the duties and obligations
to which it is now subject under the said Act of Assembly of
1853, chapter 194, and the amendments thereto, and any other
laws of the State of Maryland.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 285.
AN ACT to add an additional Section to Article 2 of the
Code of Public Local Laws, title "Anne Arundel County,"
to be designated as Section 217 A, and to follow immedi-
ately after Section 217, giving keepers and proprietors of
livery stables in Anne Arundel County a lien on horses
stabled by them.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That an additional section, to be known as section
217 A, be and the same is hereby added to Article 2 of the
Code of Public Local Laws, title "Anne Arundel County," to
follow immediately after section 217, and to read as follows:

217 A. For the price or value of any feed or accommodation
furnished by any keeper or proprietor of a livery stable in
Anne Arundel county to any person for board of his or her
horse, mare or gelding, the proprietor or keeper of such stable
shall have a lien upon any such horse, mare or gelding belong-
ing to or under the control of such person and in such stable,
and the proprietor or keeper of such stable may hold in his
possession the same until the price or value of such feed or
accommodations shall have been fully paid, whether then due
or to become due, and for the purposes of enabling such
keeper or proprietor to collect the said debt or claim after the
same shall have been due for a period of fifteen days, he or
