177. The County Commissioners shall levy annually a suffi-
cient sum not exceeding: twenty-seven thousand tive hundred
dollars, upon the taxable property in "Baltimore County" to
pay said policeman, and for such other necessary and proper
expenses as in their judgment may be required to promote the
efficiency, discipline and usefulness of such police force.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 244.
AN ACT to extend the privileges, enlarge the powers and
amend the charter of the Monumental Savings Association
of Baltimore City, a corporation duly incorporated under
the General Laws of this State.
WHEREAS, On the 15th day of July, 1893, the Monumental

Savings and Loan Association of Baltimore City was duly
incorporated under the provisions of the General Laws of this
State relating to the creation and regulation of incorporated
companies in the State of Maryland, with authority to issue
250,000 shares of the face value of $100 each ; and
WHEREAS, On or about the 18th day of January, 1901, the
articles of incorporation were amended so as to change the
name of the "Monumental Savings Association of Baltimore
City ; " and
WHEREAS, Said corporation is desirous of extending its
privileges and enlarge its powers; therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

Preamble.

Maryland, That the Monumental Savings Association of
Baltimore City, in addition to the powers possessed by it
under its certificate of incorporation and the amendment
thereof, and under the General Laws of this State, shall have
and possess the further powers, rights, privileges and fran-
chises particularly mentioned in this Act; and its charter, as
set forth in said certificate, and the certificate amendatory
thereof, shall be altered and amended so as to conform to the
terms and provisions of this Act.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the name of said corpo-
ration shall be "Monumental Savings Association," and under
such title it shall have perpetual succession and a corporate
seal, and may adopt a constitution for its government, and
may sue and be sued.

be governed by a constitution and managed by a board of not
