and impartially discharge the duties of his office without fear,
partiality or favor, and that he will not, during his term of
office, accept any money, gift, gratuity or consideration what-
soever from any person or persons, concerning any matter or
thing connected with the duties of his office. A certificate
from the clerk of the Court before whom such oath was taken
and subscribed shall be tiled in the office, of the said board.

SEC. 4. That immediately after the appointment and qualifica-
tion of the members of the board, they shall meet and organize
by electing from among their number a president and a treas-
urer, and adopt all necessary rules, by-laws and regulations not
inconsistent with the Constitution and the laws of this State,
for the transaction of the business of the said board, and the
management of its affairs, as they may deem expedient, and
the board is further authorized to adopt and use a seal for any
and all business of the eaid board requiring the use thereof.

SEC. 5. The members of the said board shall serve without
pay, but shall have the power to appoint a secretary at a salary
of not more than five hundred dollars per annum, which,
together with the actual traveling and necessary expenses of
the board aud its secretary, shall be paid out of the receipts
as hereafter directed.

SEC. 6. The said board shall meet at least once every year,
and may also hold special meetings as frequently as the proper
and efficent discharge of its duties shall require, at the time
and place to be fixed by the by-laws and rules of the board.
The by-laws and rules of the board shall provide for the
giving of proper and timely notice of all meetings to every
member of the board. A majority of all the members of the
said board shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of any
and all business of the said board.

SEC. 7. It shall be the duty of any and all persons, copart-
nerships and corporations engaged in the business of under-
taking in the State of Maryland, and all assistants and
employes of any such persons, copartnerships or corporations,
and officers of such corporations, whose duties engage him or
her in the care, preparation, disposition or burial of the dead, at
the time of the passage of this Act, to cause on or before the first
day of July next following the passage of this Act his, her, their
or its name or names, residence and place of business, and
whether an employer or employe, to be registered with said
board, whose secretary shall keep a book for the purpose, and
enter such registration therein upon the payment of a fee of five
dollars for each person, copartnership or corporation so apply-
ing ; and in the event of a corporation applying, the president
thereof shall make such application on the part of the said
