any person or persons or corporations refusing or neglecting
to obey such rules and regulations, after due notice thereof,
shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon convic-
tion thereof shall be fined not more than five hundred dollars
for every such offence. Whenever necessary, the State Board
of Health may call public conference of health officers, or
may by a vote of a majority of its members, send a delegate
to any conference of local, State or national health officers.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 160.
AN ACT to create and establish the "State Board of Under-
takers of Maryland," and to prescribe the powers and duties
of the said board.

Board of
undertakers.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a board composed of seven members be and
the same is hereby created and established, to be known as
the "State Board of Undertakers of Maryland," and the
powers and duties of the said board prescribed.

Board to
consist of five
undertakers.
|
SEC. 2. The Governor, by and with the advice and consent
of the Senate, shall biennially appoint five experienced under-
takers, residents of the State of Maryland, who shall have
been actively engaged in their profession for the last five
years immediately preceding their appointments, at least three
of whom shall be residents of the city of Baltimore, who,
together with the Secretary of the State Board of Health of
Maryland and the Commissioners of Health of the city of
Baltimore, who shall be ex officio members, shall constitute
the "State Board of Undertakers of Maryland." The mem-
bers of the said board shall hold office until their successors
are duly appointed and qualified. Any vacancy or vacancies
occurring in the membership of the said board, appointed by
the Governor during a recess of the Legislature, shall be tilled
by the Governor, subject to confirmation by the Senate at its
next session. The first of said appointments shall be made
on or before the first day of May, in the year 1902, subject to
confirmation by the Senate at the next meeting of the General
Assembly.

SEC. 3. Each member of said board, before entering upon his
duties shall take and subscribe to an oath before the clerk of
the Superior Court of Baltimore City or the clerk of. the
Circuit Court of any county in the State, that he will faithfully
