iff the jail, and the warden shall have the same cooked and
prepared for such prisoners; the warden shall have the right
to require the requisite manual work about the prison building
and premises to be done by the prisoners, but no unconvicted
prisoner shall be compelled to do any work against his will,
beyond taking care of his or her own cell.
SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the County Commissioners

shall, so far as practicable, furnish all jail supplies by contract
to be made semi-annually and due notice of the award of such
contracts shall be given ; they may in their discretion appoint
annually a board of visitors to the jail to consist of five
persons, who will serve without compensation, and whose duty
it shall be to visit said jail at least once in each mouth, and to
make to the commissioners such suggestions as they may con-
sider necessary for the proper regulation of the prison. It
shall be the duty of said commissioners to establish a code of
rules for the regulation of the jail and its occupants and
charge and add to the same as occasions may require.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the warden of the jail
shall hold his position for the term of two years unless sooner
removed by the County Commissioners for incompetency,
disobedience, neglect of duty or other cause, which in the
judgment of the said commissioners may be sufficient for
such removal, but in no case shall he be removed except upon
charges involving his fitness for the position and after notice
thereof and the opportunity to be heard upon the same. The
warden shall be paid in monthly instalments an annual salary
of nine hundred dollars and occupy the dwelling portions of
the jail free of charge. The deputy warden shall have the
privilege of occupying one of the sleeping rooms in the jail
building.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, It shall be the duty of the
present sheriff of Baltimore county, at the end of his term of
office, to deliver up the entire jail building to the County
Commissioners who shall immediately take possession thereof.

Assembly of Maryland to the grant and conveyance of a
certain parcel of land in Baltimore County to the Board of
Trustees of Taylor's Chapel, in Baltimore County, a body
corporate, duly incorporated under the laws of the State of
Maryland, by the deeds of John J. Anderson, William
