LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAPTER 475.

AN ACT to repeal section 18 of Article ninety-seven of the
Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, entitled
"Weights and Measures," sub-title "Potatoes," and to re-
enact the same with amendments.

Repeal.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That section eighteen of article ninety-seven of the
Public General Laws of Maryland, entitled "Weights and
Measures" sub-title "Potatoes," be and the same are hereby
repealed and re-enacted so as to read as follows :

toes to be
sold.

18. Potatoes in this State shall be sold by weight at the rate
of fifty-six pounds to the bushel, and any person offending
against the provisions of this section, shall be subject to a fine
of ten dollars, to be recovered before any justice of the peace
of the city or county, where said offence may be committed.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

Approved April 4, 1896.

CHAPTER 476.

AN ACT to repeal Section two of Chapter three hundred and
fifty-three of the Acts of the General Assembly passed at
the session of eighteen hundred and ninety, prohibiting the
taking of oysters with scoops, scrapes, drag, dredge or any
similar instrument, in certain waters of Somerset county, and
re-enact the same with amendments.

Repeal.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That section two of chapter three hundred and fifty-three
of the acts of the General Assembly of eighteen hundred
and ninety is hereby repealed and re-enacted so as to read as
follows :

2. That any person or persons violating any of the provisions
of this act shall be fined in a sum not less than one hundred
nor more than two hundred dollars for each and every offense,
and shall stand committed to the county jail until such fine
and costs and charges shall be fully paid and satisfied, and
every and any canoe, boat or vessel captured and convicted of
