CHAPTER 448.

AN ACT to authorize the Board of County School Commis-
sioners of Carroll county, to' refund Frank Englar of Carroll
county, seventy-five dollars, less five per centum, for money
paid by him for an unused hotel liquor license issued in Car-
roll county.

WHEREAS, Frank Englar of Carroll county paid for, re-
ceived from the clerk of the Circuit Court of Carroll county
for the year 1893, and the said Frank Englar was afterwards
enjoined by the Circuit Court for Carroll county from occupy-
ing the premises in which said business was to be conducted,
and no use or benefit was had by him from said license and
the said sum of seventy-five dollars, less five per centum of
said license money was by law paid by the said clerk of said
court to the said school commissioners.

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted, therefore, That the Board of
School Commissioners of Carroll county be and it is hereby
authorized to refund and repay to Frank Englar of Carroll
county the sum of seventy-five dollars, less five per centum.

To pay F.
Englar.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 449.

AN ACT to repeal Section 178s, Article 2, of the Code of
Public Local Laws, title " Anne Arundel County," sub-title
" Justice of the Peace," as enacted by Chapter 334 of the
Acts of 1892, and to re-enact the same, with amendments.

Effective.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That section 178 B of Article 2 of the Code of Public
Local Laws, as enacted by chapter 334 of the Acts of 1892,
be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted, so as to
read as follows :

Repeal.


178 B. The constables of Anne Arundel county, except in
the sixth district, shall be entitled to the fees prescribed by
the now existing laws for the particular services rendered,
except the fee allowed for serving summons for witness and
return, and for such services they shall be allowed the sum of
