other compensation than now allowed by law for services in
serving a commitment; and provided also, that no officer of
the law conveying any prisoner under the sentence from the
justice of the peace in Brooklyn to the Brooklyn lockup, in the
fifth election district of Anne Arundel county, shall receive
any other compensation therefor, except as now allowed by law
for the serving of a commitment.

SEC. 2. The provisions of this act shall not be held to apply
to or affect the person now holding the office of sheriff of said
county.

CHAPTER 409.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
two of Article thirty-six of the Code of Public General
Laws, title " Fees of Officers," as amended by Acts of the
General Assembly of Maryland of eighteen hundred and
ninety -two, Chapter ninety-one, entitled an Act to repeal
Section two of Article thirty-six of the Code of Public
General Laws, title " Fees of Officers," and to re-enact the
same, with amendments.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That section two of Article thirty six of the Code of
Public General Laws, title "Fees of Officers," as repealed and
re-enacted by the act of eighteen hundred and ninety- two,
chapter ninety-one, be and the same is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, so as to read as follows :

Repeal.

SEC. 2. No account for officers' fees by any of the several
officers herein named rendered for services to or in behalf of
the counties of this State, in this section named, shall be
allowed by the County Commissioners thereof, until said ac-
count has been submitted to and approved by the judges of
the circuit court for said county, cr a majority thereof; and
no charge for officers' fees shall be paid or allowed by the
County Commissioners aforesaid, in any criminal case where
jurisdiction to try, hear and determine the matter charged
against the party accused has been conferred by law upon jus-
tices of the peace, but the County Commissioners may levy
or pay to the officers performing service in such cases such
