after the necessary expenses incident to the sale; and the offi-
cer or person gelling said property, shall pay the same to the
person whose duty it is' to collect or receive said taxes, under
the laws of this State.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 408.
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 2, of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, titled "Anne Arundel
County," to go in after Section 188 of said Article, sub title
"Prisoners," and to be known as Section 188 A.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
2, of the Code of Public Local Laws, titled "Anne Arundel
County," under the new sub-title of "Prisoners," and to be
known is section 188 A, and to read as follows:

Pay of sheriff
and con-
stables.
|
188 A. All prisoners under sentence by the Circuit Court for
Anne Arundel county to any penal institution or reformatory
shall be conveyed to said penal institution or reformatory by
the sheriff of the county or one of his deputies, and all pris-
oners under sentence by any justice of the peace of this county
to any penal institution in this State, or to any reformatory,
shall be conveyed thereto by the sheriff of this county or one
of his deputies, or by a constable of the county, as the justice
of the peace may direct, and for so conveying the prisoner or
prisoners to said penal institution or reformatory the said
sheriff or constable shall be allowed and paid by the County
Commissioners of Anne Arundel county the actual expenses
necessarily incurred by the officer so conveying the prisoner or
prisoners so committed under sentence as aforesaid, and also
the sum of two dollars for each prisoner so conveyed to the
Maryland House of Correction,, and the sum of five dollars for
each prisoner conveyed to the Maryland Penitentiary, and the
sum of two dollars for each prisoner con-veyed to any reforma-
tory in the State; provided, however, that no officer convey-
ing a prisoner under sentence from the Circuit Court for Anne
Arundel county or from a justice of the peace of the city of
Annapolis to the connty jail at Annapolis, shall receive any
