3. The Mayor of said town of Brunswick shall be elected
every second year to serve for two years, as provided in the
next section. The Council shall consist of six members, two

from each ward; three members, one from each ward, to be
elected every second year, to serve for four years. The three
hold-over members elected in 1894 to serve for four years, shall
serve, in connection with the three members to be elected in
1896, until the expiration of their respective terms, when their
successors, one from each ward, shall be elected to serve for
four years, and so on, electing three members, every second year
to serve for four years, as provided in the next section. The
boundaries of the three wards of Brunswick shall remain as
now constituted and established until otherwise ordained by the
Council.

Election of
mayor and
councilmen

4. The male citizens of the town of Brunswick of the age
of twenty-one years and upwards, who have resided in the State
of Maryland for a period of twelve months, in the county of
Frederick for a period of six months, within the corporate
limits of Brunswick for a period of thirty days, and in some
one of the wards thereof for fifteen days prior to any election to
be held therein, shall, on the first Monday of August, in the year
1896, and every second year thereafter on the same day, at such
places as the Council shall designate, between the hours of 7
o'clock A. M. and 6 o'clock P. M. elect one person at least thirty
years of age, Mayor of said town, and three persons not less
than twenty-one years of age, Councilmen of said town, all of
whom shall be bona fide residents and owners of real estate in
said town at the time of their election. The Mayor of said
town and the members of the Council thereof shall receive for
their services, respectively, such compensation not to exceed
$100 per year to the Mayor, nor $25 per year to any one mem-
ber, as may be determined from time to time by the Council.

Register of
voters.

5. The Governor shall, on or before the first Monday in May
in the year 1896, and every two years thereafter, appoint one
person as officer of registration for said town of Brunswick, who
shall be a resident and qualified voter of said town at the time of
his appointment, and such officer of registration shall revise and
correct the lists of qualified voters as contained in the registra-
tion books of the respective wards, registering therein all per-
sons who shall have the qualifications to entitle them to vote
for Mayor and Councilmen of said town, and who shall apply
in person for the purpose of being registered, and striking
therefrom the names of all persons who have died, removed
away or become for any reason disqualified to vote at any elec-
