streets, etc,

218 E. The commissioners of the corporate town of Queens-
town, are empowered to open or close, by and with the con-
currence of the County Commissioners, any street, lane, alley
or avenue whenever in their judgment it shall become neces-
sary.

Effective.

SEC. 2. Be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from
the date of its passage.

Approved April 4, 1896.

CHAPTER 352.

AN ACT to authorize the Mayor and City Council of Laurel,
Maryland, to transfer the five cents deducted from the fif-
teen cents special tax levy for sidewalk bonds, Act eighteen
hundred and eighty-eight, Chapter 94, and levy same for a
special sidewalk fund.

WHEREAS, The Mayor and City Council of Laurel deducted

five cents from the fifteen cent special tax levy for sidewalk
bonds, Act eighteen hundred and eighty-eight, Chapter ninety-
four, on account of the remaining ten cents being adequate to
meet interest and provide sufficient sinking fund for said
bonds; and in order to get the five cents transferred to
a special fund for the purpose of renewing and repairing
sidewalks laid under said act, and for other purposes; there-
fore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

are hereby authorized and empowered to levy a special tax of
not more than tive cents on each one hundred dollars' worth
of assessable property in said town, to be levied and collected
as other town taxes are now collected, for the purpose of re-
newing and repairing sidewalks laid under the Act of eighteen
hundred and eighty-eight, Chapter ninety-four, and for other
purposes.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
