LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Repeal

twenty-two, of the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Wash-
ington County," sub-title '"Keedysville," be and the same is
hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments, so as to read
as follows :

291. They may lay an equal tax on the property within said
town to such an amount as may from time to time be deemed
necessary, and may appoint a collector to collect the same and
prescribe his term of office, responsibility and compensation,
and the said collector shall have the same power to distrain for
the taxes so levied, as the collector of county taxes, has and shall
collect and pay the same to the said Burgess and Commissioners,
or the said collector may collect said taxes by an action of debt,
as other debts are collected.

New section.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the following sec-
tion to be known as section two hundred and ninety-one A, be
added to Article twenty-two, Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland, title "Washington County," sub-title "Keedysville,"
to follow section two hundred and ninety-one of said Article
twenty two, and to read as follows :

291 A. All property within the limits of Keedysville, or
what may have a situs there, by reason of a residence of the
owner therein, shall be taxed for municipal purposes, and the
assessment for town purposes, shall be the same as that for
State and county purposes; and in case any real estate assessed
for State and county purposes be divided by the town bound-
aries, the Burgess and Commissioners shall place a fair valua-
tion upon that contained within the town limits and make a
just apportionment of said assessment; should any property
liable to be taxed for t6wn purposes, be omitted in the county
assessment, the Burgess and Commissioners shall have power to
include said property in the town assessment, and impose a just
valuation thereon.

Effective.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the day of its passage.
