CHAPTER 325.

AN ACT to submit to the legal and qualified voters of the town
of Lonaconing, in Allegany county, Maryland, the question
whether or not, additional section shall be added to Chap-
ter 569 of the Acts of 1894, amendatory of Chapter 425
of the Acts of 1892, amendatory of the Acts of 1890,
Chapter 132, entitled an Act to incorporate the town of
Lonaconing, in Allegany county.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, In pursuance of the authority contained in sec-
tion forty-four of the Acts of 1894, passed at the January
eighteen hundred and ninety-four session of the General As-
sembly of Maryland, the Mayor and City Councilmen of Lon-
aconing levied a tax, to wit: The sum of twenty-five cents on
each hundred dollars of assessable property in said town for
the payment of the rental of the public fire hydrants, con-
tracted for, in pursuance of the authority contained in section
forty-three of the acts of 1894, chapter 569; and

Preamble.

WHEKEAS, After payment of said rental up to July, 1896,
& balance of six hundred dollars thereabouts, of the money
heretofore levied as aforesaid, will remain over and above suf-
ficient to pay said rental up to said date; and

WHEREAS, The Mayor and Councilmen, under the existing
provisions of the charter of said town, have no power to use
said money for any other purpose than for the payment of the
rental of said fire hydrants; therefore,

voted on.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That at the corporation election to be held in said town
of Lonaconing in May, 1896, the question shall be submitted
to the legal and qualified voters thereof whether or not the
charter of said town shall be amended by the addition of the
following section as amendatory of the acts of incorporation of
said town, chapter 132 of the acts of 1890, chapter 425 of the
