LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAPTER 307.

AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money to pay Frank W-
Owens, late Treasurer of Anne Arundel county, and as such
collector of State taxes in said county, for the years eighteen
hundred and ninety-one and eighteen hundred and ninety-
two, the sum of ninety-six dollars and ninety-three cents for
money erroneously paid into the Treasury of the State, as
such collector of State taxes.

Appropria-
tion.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Treasurer of the State, be and he is hereby
authorized and directed, upon the warrant of the Comptroller
of the State (which warrant the Comptroller is hereby author-
ized and directed to draw) to pay to Frank W. Owens, late
Treasurer of Anne Arundel county, and as such the collector
of State taxes in said county for the years eighteen hundred
and ninety-one and eighteen hundred and ninety-two, the sum
of ninety-six dollars and ninety-three cents, for money errone-
ously paid into the Treasury of the State, as such collector of
State taxes for the years aforesaid.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

Approved April 4th, 1896.

CHAPTER 308.
AN ACT to incorporate the Montgomery Power Company.

A body cor-
porate.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Col. H. T. Douglas, of Baltimore, Md.; B. G.
Smith and J. C. Smith, of Harford county, Md.; R. Lancaster
Williams, of Richmond, Va.; D. S. Mackall, of Fairfax county,
Va.; Horace S. Cummings, of Washington, D. C.; Thomas R.
Patton, Powell Evans and Henry L. Townsend, of Philadel-
phia, Pa., or such of them as may accept the provisions of
this act, their associates and successors, be and they are hereby
incorporated and made a body politic and corporate under the
name and style of "Montgomery Power Company," and by
that name shall be known in law, and shall have perpetual
succession, and have power to sue and be sued, plead and be
impleaded, defend and be defended, in all courts, whether in
