CHAPTER 256.
AN ACT to appropriate a portion of the fines and forfeitures
collected in Washington County to the purchase of law
books for the library attached to the Circuit Court for said
county.

Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, The library belonging to the Circuit Court for
"Washington County was destroyed some years ago by fire, and
it is a great assistance to the conducting of the business of said
court to have a libaary of reference, conveniently situated, for
the use of the court and members of the bar therefore,
|

|
Purchase of
law books.
Effective.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That one-half of all fines imposed by the Circuit Court
for Washington County and one-half of the recognizances for-
feited in said court, which are to be hereafter paid, are hereby
directed to be paid by the sheriff of Washington county to the
clerk of the Circuit Court for said county, to be expended,
under the order and direction of said court, in the purchase
of law books to be placed in its law library; provided, how-
ever, that the provisions of this act shall not be in effect after
the 1st day of January, in the year 1900.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 257.
AN ACT to ratify and confirm certain rights granted by the
County Commissioners of Allegany county to the Cumber-
land Electric Railway Company.

in the exercise of powers supposed to be vested in them,
granted to the Cumberland Electric Railway Company certain
limited rights to use certain of the public roads of Allegany
