LAWS OF MARYLAND.

of Public Local Laws of the State of Maryland, title "Carroll
County," sub-title "Manchester," be and the same is hereby
repealed and re-enacted with amendments, so as to read as
follows :

77. They shall have the power to make all such by-laws,
rules, regulations and ordinances not inconsistent with the

Constitution and Laws of this State, as from time to time they
may deem wise, equitable and expedient, other than those
specified in the other section of said Article seven, relating to
Manchester, for the comfort, health, convenience, safety and
prosperity of the said town and its inhabitants, or the preven-
tion and extinguishment of fire in said town; for the preven-
tion and removal of all nuisances; for the preservation of
health and the suppression of vice and immorality within the
limits of said town; to restrain, control and license theatrical or
other public exhibitions and amusements not taxed by the
State, within the limits of said corporation; to license and pre-
vent dogs and bitches from running at large in said town, and
for the taking up and killing of all dogs and bitches running
at large, having no recognized owners; and to license and reg-
ulate and prevent cattle, swine, geese, ducks and poultry of any
kind from running at large in the streets, roads, lanes and
alleys of said corporation; to regulate, license and tax restau-
rants, saloons, hotels and other places where malt, spirituous,
vinous or fermented liquors are sold.

Repeal.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all laws inconsistent with
the provisions of this act, be and the same are hereby repealed
to the extent of such inconsistency.

Effective.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 226.

AN ACT to provide for the erection of a school house for
Colored children in the First Election District of Cecil
County, Maryland.

To build
school house.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Cecil County,
Maryland, be and they are hereby directed to purchase a suit-
