LLOYD LOWNDES, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

repealed and re-enacted with amendments by the Act of the
General Assembly of Maryland, passed at the January session,
1894, chapter 224, be and the same is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, so as to read as follows :

8. It shall not be lawful for any person to shoot, or in any
manner catch, kill, or have in possession, in Carroll county,
any partridge, pheasant, woodcock or rabbit between the first
day of November and the tenth day of October next ensuing,
both days exclusive, in each and every year; any squirrels
between the first day of November and the first day of Sep-
tember, exclusive; nor shall any person, during such period,
destroy or molest the eggs or nests of said birds in said
county.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

Approved April 2, 1896.

CHAPTER 220.

AN ACT to amend Article one of the Code of Local Laws
of Maryland, entitled "Allegany County," sub-title "Cum-
berland," and to add additional sections thereto, to be known
as 78 G and 78 H.

Effective.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Article one of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland, entitled "Allegany County," sub-title "Cumberland,"
be and the same is hereby amended, by adding thereto two
new sections to follow after section 78 F, to be known as 78 G
and 78 H.

New sections.


78 G. And the said Mayor and City Council of Cumberland
are hereby authorized to receive, have, hold, use and enjoy
any real estate or land for park purposes, which, in their judg-
ment, they may deem advisable in the interest of the city ol
Cumberland, and for the pleasure, use and enjoyment of the
citizens thereof, and said Mayor and City Council are hereby
authorized to purchase, agree and contract with the owner or
owners of any land which they may conceive expedient or
proper to purchase and hold for the purpose of establishing a
public park or parks or adding to or improving any land now
