or their agents, sell cider, directly or indirectly, in any hotel,
inn, barroom, restaurant, saloon, eating house or pool, bagatelle
or billiard room.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That if any person, house or com-
pany, association or body corporate shall violate any of the
provisions of the three preceding sections, within the limits of
Wicomico county, or any election district, town or city thereof
where a majority of the voters shall be against license as afore-
said, he shall, on each and every conviction thereof, forfeit and
pay a fine of not less than one hundred dollars, nor more than
six hundred dollars, and the costs of prosecution, and be con-
fined in the Maryland House of Correction for not less than
six months nor more than twelve months, or in the discretion
of the court, forfeit and pay a fine of not less than one hun-
dred dollars or more than six hundred dollars, and the costs of
prosecution, and failing to pay such fines and costs forthwith,
shall be sentenced to be confined in the Maryland House of
Correction for a term of not less than six months, nor more
than twelve months, or until such fines and costs are paid.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That nothing herein contained
shall prevent any competent or qualified druggist under the
laws of this State, engaged in the regular drug business as a

compounder of medicines, from selling such liquors for medi-
cinal purposes upon a written prescription, signed by a regular
and practicing physician, or for sacramental purposes, upon a
written order signed by a clergyman; and each prescription or
order shall be wholly in writing and signed with the proper
signature of the party giving the same; but such liquors so
sold upon prescription or order shall be furnished but once
upon any prescription or order, and shall state the full chris-
tian name of the person to whom such liquor is to be fur-
nished, and the kind and the quantity thereof; and each order
shall state specifically the particular use for which the intoxi-
cating liquor shall be desired, and no prescription shall be for
more than one pint; and any druggist, upon selling such
liquor upon order or prescription, shall promptly and properly
paste the prescription or order in a book which shall be placed
in a convenient place for inspection of the officers of the said
county or town or city or election district of said county, or
any person ordered by court, or by any justice of the peace
of the said county, or any person or persons presenting a
written request signed by five or more reputable citizens of said
county, town, city or election district of said county; but no
physician shall make or sign any such prescription, unless the
