beverages. The judge and the clerk of the Circuit Court for
said county when such an election shall have been held therein,
upon the receipt of the certificate of election aforesaid should
it appear that the majority of the votes cast were " against "

the sale of intoxicating liquors for beverages, shall give notice
of such returns of election by advertisement in one or more
newspapers published in said county; and it shall not be lawful
for any license for the sale of intoxicating liquors for beverages
to be issued in said county, election district, city or town, as the
case may be, on or after the first day of May next succeeding ;
provided, however, that any license then outstanding and unex-
pired shall continue for the time for which it was issued.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That no person, house, company,
association or body corporate, shall deposit, keep or have in
his or its possession, any spirituous or fermented liquors or
alcoholic bitters or intoxicating drinks of any kind whatsoever,
or any cider, tonic beer, lager beer, schnapps, gin or any
article used or sold as a beverage in the composition or com-
pounding of which whiskey, brandy, high wines or alcohol, or
any spirituous or fermented liquors shall be an ingredient,
with intent to barter or sell or give away the same in violation
of the provisions of the preceding sections, or with intent that
the same shall be bartered or sold or given away in violation
thereof, within the limits of the said county, district, town or
city in which there may be a majority of the votes cast against
the license aforesaid.

Sales of apple
cider.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That nothing in the two pre-
ceding sections shall be construed to permit the sale of pure
apple cider, (not to be drank on the premises of the seller), in
quantities not less than one gallon at one time by the manu-
facturers of apple cider, or by persons who have grown the
apples therefor; but such sale as apple cider shall only be law-
ful between the first day of August in each year and the first
day of January of the succeeding year; and no sale of cider
shall be made to minors or intoxicated persons, or on the Sab-
bath day, commonly called Sunday, or on any election day ;
nor shall any sale of cider be lawful either for themselves or
as agents for others, by such manufacturers of cider or grower
of apples, if they shall be the proprietors, keepers or owners
of a hotel, inn, barroom, restaurant, saloon, eating house, etore
or pool, bagatelle "or billiard room, or by their agents, waiters
or clubs; nor shall manufacturers of cider, or growers of apples,
