LAWS OF MARYLAND.

reservoir or reservoirs as may be necessary to provide water for
drinking or other purposes to the dwelling-houses, stores, shops
and manufacturing establishments in Brooklyn and its vicinity,
in Anne Arundel county.

May erect
poles, lines
of wire, etc

SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That said company be
and it is hereby authorized to erect poles and lines of wires
thereon for illuminating purposes, and to construct and lay
tubes or conduits for the using and supplying of electricity
or electric current or magnetism for illuminating purposes or
other purposes to which electricity or magnetism may be
applied; and also to construct and lay gas and water pipes
along or under the streets, squares, lanes, roads, public high-
ways, bridges and alleys of Brooklyn and its vicinity, in Anne
Arundel county, and may lay tube wires conductors and
insulators, and erect poles and posts, and string wires thereon,
and may lay pipes and mains for gas and water, and construct
and maintain, repair and remove from time to time, all such
pipes, lines and appliances; provided, however, that the plant-
ing of such poles and posts, and the tearing up of such streets,
lanes, alleys or highways, shall not be done until the consent of
the County Commissioners of Anne Arundel county shall have
been first had and obtained, and in the event of the teaiing up
said streets, lanes, alleys or highways, the said company shall
put the same in good repair at its own expense.

May issue
bonds.

SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That it shall be lawful
for the said company to issue its bonds or obligations, in suras
of not less than fifty dollars ($59), and payable with interest at
such time or times as the president and directors of said com-
pany may appoint, and to sell and dispose of the same, and to
provide for the security and payment of the same, by mort-
gage or otherwise; said bonds not to exceed the sum of one
hundred thousand ($100,000); and also that it shall and may
be lawful for the said company to issue its certificates of stock,
and apply the same, if they shall find it expedient to do so, in
payment of the expenses of the construction and equipment of
said works or other liabilities of said company.

Effective.

SEC. 7. And, be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
