LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Section 40, and to be known as ''Section 40 A," making an
annual appropriation for the payment of the annual expenses
of the clerk of the Court of Appeals; and an annual ap-
propriation for the payment of the costs incurred by the
State for printing all records and briefs in State cases in
the Court of Appeals.

New section.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary
land, That the following new section be and the same is
hereby added to Article 17, of the Code of Public General
Laws, title "Clerks of Courts," sub-title "Clerk of the Court
of Appeals," to come in after section 40, and to be known as
"Section 40 A."

Appropria-
tion.

40 A. The sum of eight hundred dollars, or so much thereof
as may be necessary, is hereby annually appropriated to pay
for the record books, dockets, stationery, postage and other
expenses of the office of the clerk of the Court of Appeals,
for the payment of which the Comptroller of the Treasury is
hereby directed to draw his warrants upon the Treasurer of
Maryland, from time to time upon production to him by the
said clerk of the Court of Appeals, of the proper vouchers
thereof. And the sum of five hundred dollars, or so much
thereof as may be necessary, is hereby annually appro-
priated for the purpose of paying the cost of printing the
records and briefs in State cases in the Court of Appeals,
and the Comptroller of the Treasury is hereby directed to
draw his warrant from time to time upon the Treasurer of
Maryland for the amount properly payable by the State for
the printing of such records and briefs in State cases in the
Court of Appeals, upon the vouchers submitted to him and
certified to be correct by the Attorney-General of the State of
Maryland.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
Approved April 3d, 1896.

CHAPTER 164.

AN ACT supplemental to an Act, Chapter 231, passed at the
January session, eighteen hundred and ninety-four, entitled
an Act to establish a second Hospital for the Insane of the
State of Maryland, and to appropriate a sum of money
therefor, and to create a loan to complete the erection and
furnishing of buildings therefor.
