any County Commissioner during the term of his service, the
Governor shall have power to till the vacancy until the next
general election, when a County Commissioner to fill said
unexpired term shall be elected.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 27.

AN ACT to repeal Sections 159B, 159 E, 159 H, 159I, 159J,
and 159 M, as "added to Article twenty-two of the Code of
Public Local Laws, entitled "Washington County," sub-
title "Hagerstown," enacted by Chapter 36 of the Acts of
General Assembly of Maryland, passed at the January ses-
sion in the year eighteen hundred and ninety-two, and to
re-enact the same with amendments.

Effective.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That sections 159B, 159E, 159 H, 159 I, 159J, and 159 M,
as added to Article twenty-two of the Code of Public Local
Laws, entitled " Washington County," sub title "Hagerstown,"
enacted by Chapter 36 of the Acts of the General Assembly
of Maryland, passed at the January session in the year eighteen
hundred and ninety-two, be and the same are hereby repealed
and re-enacted, so as to read as follows:

Repeal.


159 B. The Governor shall, by and with the advice aud con-
sent of the Senate, on or before the first Monday in March, in
the year eighteen hundred and ninety-six, and on or before
the third Monday in February in the year eighteen hundred
and ninety-eight, and on or before the third Monday in Feb-
ruary, biennially thereafter, appoint one person as officer of
registration in each registration district of the city of Hagers-
town, who shall be a resident of the district for which; he is
appointed, and the said officer of registration shall register in
books to be prepared for the purpose, all male citizens above
the age of twenty-one years, who shall have the requisite
qualitications to entitle them to vote for Mayor. Every male
person, who shall have resided in the State of Maryland and
in said Hagerstown for twelve months, and in the ward
wherein he offers to register six months next preceding the
