SECTION. 1 Be, it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That section 12 of Article 56 of the Code of Public
General Laws, title "Licenses," sub-title "Brokers," be and the
same is hereby repealed; and that section 18 of said article
(as amended by chapter 561 of the acts of 1892) be and the
same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments, as
follows :

Repeal.

18. Any person or partnership applying for the same, and
paying the sum of $30.00, may obtain a license for carrying
on the business of grain broker, stock broker, coffee broker,
cotton broker, sugar oroker or merchandise broker, in the city
of Baltimore.

Brokers'
licenses.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all acts or parts of acts
inconsistent with the provisions of this act are hereby repealed.

Repeal.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

Approved April 4th, 1896.

CHAPTER 146.

AN ACT to amend an Act entitled "An Act to incorporate
the Town of Mt. Airey, in Carroll and Frederick Counties,"
passed at the January session, eighteen hundred and ninety-
four, being Chapter ninety-one of the Acts of said sessson.

Effective.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the members of the Council of Mt. Airey shall
biennially appoint a register for said town and assign his duties
by ordinance and allow him such compensation as they may
prescribe; and all ordinances passed by the said council and
signed by the Mayor, shall be entered by the register in a book
to be kept by him for that purpose, which shall be epen at all
times for public inspection; and copies of all ordinances,' signed
by the Mayor and attested by the register, shall be put up in
the most public places in said town, in order that the same may
be generally made known; the said register shall receive and
disburse upon the order of the Mayor, all moneys collected
under any ordinance of the corporation, and shall give bond to
the Mayor and Council of Mt. Airey, with such security as
they shall require for the faithful performance of his duties ;
he shall report annually to the council, and as often as required
