the United States or the law of the Great Council, and the
same may change and alter or amend, as may appear proper,
and may have, use, and, at pleasure, change a common seal,
and, in general, exercise all such rights, privileges and immu-
nities, as by law are incident or necessary to the corporation
herein constituted, and to enable the members of said order
to exercise all things concerning the design of the corporation
for the benevolent relief of the sick and distressed, and for
the promotion of their purposes generally.

Constitution,
rules and
officers.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the constitution, rules and
regulations of Alletta Tribe, number one hundred and nine,
Improved Order of Red Men of Girdletree, Maryland, shall
be the constitution, rules and regulations for the government
of the corporation hereby created, until the same shall be reg-
ularly repealed or altered by said corporation, or by act of
the Great Council of Maryland, and that the present officers
of Alletta Tribe, number one hundred and nine, Improved
Order of Red Men of Girdletree, Maryland, shall be the offi-
cers of the said corporation hereby created until the regular
time for the election of officers as prescribed by its constitu-
tien and laws and their qualifications for office.

May hold real
estate.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said corporation shall
be capable in law to have, receive and retain to it property,
real, personal and mixed, also devises or bequests of any person
or persons capable of making the same, and the same at its
pleasure to transfer, mortgage or otherwise dispose of; pro-
vided, always, that the said corporation shall not at any time
hold or possess property, not personal or mixed, exceeding in
value the sum of fifteen thousand dollars.

Effective.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
Approved April 2d, 1896.

CHAPTER 131.

AN ACT to repeal, amend and re-enact Section 614 of Article
4 of the Code of Public Local Laws, title "City of Balti-
more," sub-title "Justices of the Peace and Constables," as
amended by Chapter 197 of the Acts passed at the January
Session, of 1894.

Repeal.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That section 614 of Article 4 of the Code of Public
