LAWS OF MARYLAND.

New section,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Article twenty-three of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland, title "Wicomico County," sub-title "Reve-
nue and Taxes," be and the same is hereby amended by adding
a new section thereto to follow section one hundred and twelve
and be designated section one hundred and twelve A, to read
as follows :

112 A. When the office of clerk and treasurer to the County
Commissioners shall become vacant by reason of the death or
resignation of the incumbent, the Board of County Commis-
sioners shall elect some other person as clerk and treasurer to
fill the unexpired term, who shall give bond and qualify in the
same manner as his predecessor in office.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

Approved March 27th, 1896.

CHAPTER 93.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
100 of Article 19, of the Code of Public Local Laws, title
St. Mary's County," sub-title "Roads," as said section was
enacted by Chapter 564 of the Acts of 1894.

Repeal.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That section 100 of Article 19, of the Code of Public
Local Laws, title "St. Mary's County," sub-title "Roads," as
said section was enacted by chapter 564 of the Acts of 1894,
be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amend-
ments, so as to read as follows :

Road super-
visors.

100. The County Commissioners of St. Mary's county,
immediately after the passage of this act, or at their first
meeting in April, eighteen hundred and ninety-six, and there-
after annually at their first meeting in April, appoint one gen-
eral road supervisor for said county, and two district super-
visors for each election district of said county; the said

tion.

general and district road supervisors shall receive such com-
pensation for their services, by the way of salary or per diem,
as the said commissioners shall, in their discretion, at said
meeting fix, and such compensation shall not be increased or
diminished for the term of one year. The said commissioners
