and operation which it would have had, if the said Margery
were under the age of forty-five years, and liable to maintain

herself when her freedom should commence: Provided, That
Lloyd M . Lowe, or some other person shall give bond to the
levy court of Prince George's county, wi th security to be ap-
proved by the justices thereof, in such penalty as they shall
prescribe, conditioned that the said Margery shall receive
eighteen dollars annually for her support, after the death of
Mrs, Elizabeth Lowe, and during her (the said Margery's)
natural life.

CHAPTER 159,

 

An act to change the time of holding the November Term of the
Court of Appeals , for the Eastern Shore.

Passed March 12,

1828,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
Iand, That so much oi an act of Assembly, passed at Decem-
ber session, eighteen hundred and sixteen, chapter one hun-
dred and fifty-one, as relates to the holding of the court of
appeals, for the Eastern Shore of this state in the month of
November, be, and the same is hereby repealed.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That from and after the passage
or this act. the said court shall be holden at Easton on the se-
cond Monday of November, in each and every year thereaf-
ter, instead of the last Monday as heretofore provided by
law.

CHAPTER 160.

 

An act to amend the Lottery System

Passed March 13,
1828

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That before any commissioner of lotteries shall proceed
to act as such, or shall be entitled to receive any salary, or
other compensation whatsoever, he shall give bond to the
state of Maryland, with two securities to be approved by the
Governor and Council, each bond to be in the penal sum of
twenty thousand dollars, conditioned, that the said commis-
sioner shall well and truly perform and discharge the several
duties required of him as a commissioner of lotteries, and that
he will abstain from and avoid all manner of concern or inte-
rest in the gain or loss of any lottery scheme, and that he
will not be concerned in the purchase of any lottery ticket or
tickets, part or parts thereof, and that he will faithfully pay
over all monies which shall come into his hands, as a com-
missioner of lotteries, to the person or persons, body or bo-
dies corporate or politic, who shall be entitled to receive the
same, and that he will in all respects comply with the requisi-
