CHAPTER 20.

Passed January 25,

1828,

A supplement to the act, entitled, An act for the establishment
of Vestries for each Parish in this State.

Preamble

WHEREEAS, experience has shewn that associated'Rector-
ships, as provided for by the sixteenth section of the act t0
which this is a supplement, are not in all eases expedient.

Permission granted

Be it therefore enacted ly the General Assembly of Mary-
land, Th.it from and after the passage of this act, it shall and
may be lawful for the vestry of any parish or church or united
churches or congregations within this state, where the minis-
trations of two or more clergymen may be deemed necessa-
ry or convenient, to elect and call such clergymen or any of
them, either as rector, associate minister, or assistant minis-
ter, or by such other appellation as said vestry may think ad-
visible, and designate the powers and duties to be exercised
and discharged by such clergymen or any of them.

A Supplement to the act, entitled, An act for the opening of
Monument Street in the City of Baltimore.

Commissioners

powered

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Henry Thompson, George Decker, Russiter Scott,
William Frick and John B, Morris, be, and they are hereby
appointed commissioners in lieu of the persons named in the
act to which this is a supplement, and they or a majority of
them are hereby authorised to exercise all the powers, and
perform all the duties which the commissioners named in the
said act, were thereby authorised and required to do, and
each of the said commissioners may at any time within sixty
days, after the passage of this act, take the oath or affirmation,
required by the seventh section of the act to which this is a
supplement and the said commissioners shall have power to
employ a clerk, surveyor and such other agents and servants
as they may deem necessary in the exercise of their powers
and performance of their duties aforesaid, and allow them
such compensation as the commissioners shall deem reasona-
ble, and assess the same as part of the expenses of opening
thr said street.

Appeal provided

for

SEC, 2 And be it exacted, That any person or persons, or
cot poration, who may be dissatisfied with the assessment of
damages or bent tits which shall be made by the said commis-
sioners may within thirty days after the first publication of
the notice required to he given by the fourth section of the
act to which this is supplement, appeal therefrom, hy petition
in writing to the Judges of Baltimore city court, praying the
said judges to review the same, and it shall be the duty of
the mid commissioners to make it a part of their said notice,
$tiat the parties interested are entitled to such appeal, and on
