each term of court are in numerical order. Thus a searcher may
now use the indexes to the Court of Appeals Dockets as a finding
aid for locating the briefs in a given case.

CIRCULATION

For the first time, the statewide colonial wills of the Prerog-
ative Court did not lead in the number of users, its place was
taken by the Land Patents formerly in the possession of the Land
Office. Part of this increased circulation must be attributed to
the printed index to the patents prepared by Mr. Skordas (The
Early Settlers of Maryland, and published by the Genealogical
Publishing Company, Baltimore, 1968). This book has made the
Patents readily available to users all over the country.

The Chancery records were much circulated this year, pri-
marily due to the staff of the Historic Annapolis Inc. project "The
Congress and the Community during and after the Revolution"
funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities, and di-
rected by Mr. Edward Papenfuse and Mrs. Joyce McDonald.
