ARCHIVIST OF THE HALL OF RECORDS 15

David L. Brown, Clerk I, resigned December 19, 1969 to
accept private employment. He was replaced by Terry J. Driscoll
on January 26, 1970. Mr. Driscoll resigned on April 14, 1970 and
was replaced by Clarence W. Johnson on May 4, 1970.

PARTICIPATION IN PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS AND

ACTIVITIES

The Archivist attended the Annual Meeting of the Society
of American Archivists, Oct. 8, 9, 10 at Madison, Wisconsin. He
was accompanied by the Assistant Archivist and the Assistant
Records Administrator. He also attended the Annual Meeting
of the American Historical Association in Washington, B.C. The
Assistant Archivist also attended this meeting.

The Archivist served as a member of the Local Arrange-
ments Committee of the Society of American Archivists for the
1971 meeting to be held in Washington. He was also a member
of the Committee on Standards of the SAA and attended meet-
ings in Washington of this committee.

He was a guest of the Registers of Wills of Maryland for
their annual meeting in Ocean City, Md. The Assistant Archivist
also attended. The Archivist attended 12 meetings of the St.
Mary's City Commission in the course of the year, the same
number of meetings of the Marylariti Historical Trust, the
majority of the meetings of the Commission on Negro History
and Culture, and of the Maryland Historical Society Publications
Committee meetings.

Mr. Skordas became very active in the Maryland Folklife
Commission attending all the meetings and helping with budg-
etary problems, preparation of their reports, etc. He also taught
the 19th Institute of Genealogical Research of the American
University and the 24th Institute of Modern Archives sponsored
by the same institution. He acted as clerk in the Caveat Hearings
of the Commissioner of Land Patents, he assisted the Secretary
of State in designing and compiling a set a rules for the executive
departments of Maryland and he was the agent of the State in
preparing a new State Seal.

Mr. Beach and Mr. Brown attended the Annual Meeting of
the Maryland Court Clerks Association at Ocean City, Maryland.
