THE LAND OFFICE

When the records of the Land Office were transferred to the
Hall of Records, so was its caveat business. Mrs. Crockett came with
the Land Office, and she has been of great assistance to the Archivist
in the conduct of its affairs. We had much to do: most of the printed
forms of the Land Office dated back fifty years or more. A whole new
set of forms had to be devised and printed. A great deal of correspond-
ence had to be dispatched in accordance with the new governing
statutes.

The caveat hearings were held with Richard C. Rice, Special
Assistant Attorney General, Gust Skordas who acted as Clerk and a
court reporter.
