PUBLICATIONS
I am especially pleased with our record of publication for fiscal
year 1960. I think that the list which follows is a creditable one but,
unfortunately, one which we are not likely to equal in the new year.
Publication is one of the prized objectives in the archivistic tradition;
but American training does not stress this aspect of our work and there
is rarely the leisure in new institutions like ours which have been over-

version of the Maryland Guide, and we are hopeful that the second
volume of the County Courthouses and Records of Maryland will be
finished. In addition, the legal editor of the Proceedings of the Prince
George's County Court, a joint effort with the American Historical
Association, advises me that he is again making progress after a long
but unavoidable interruption.

action to prevent the move. This Annual Report appeared February
9, 1960.

new Code required the checking of all references; the completion of
the two new State Office Buildings meant a change of address and
telephone number for everyone. New agencies were created beyond
anything we had experienced in the past, and old ones abolished; a
short history of the General Assembly of 1959 and 1960 was added as
well as an historical list of Clerks of the Court of Appeals and a new
