ARCHIVIST or THE HALL OF RECORDS 15
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
Appropriations for the Hall of Records Commission from all
sources were $9,000 in excess of those available to us in fiscal year
1959. The bulk of the difference is accounted for by an increase of
$14,000 for salaries as a result of the addition of three new members
to the staff and the general salary increase provided by the Legislature
of 1959. To balance this increase there was a decrease of $6,000 in
operating expenses, and this was made possible because in fiscal year
1959 an extraordinary budget was required to equip the Baltimore
Record Center. The relatively large amount carried over into fiscal year
1961 includes an earlier appropriation of $5,000 earmarked for print-
ing the new Maryland Guide.
