12 TWENTY-FOURTH ANNUAL REPORT

FINANCIAL STATEMENT

Our appropriation from General Funds for the fiscal year was
slightly less than in the previous year but the total expended was
larger because of the grant of an additional sum of $1,558 to provide
for adjustments in salary scales which became effective March 4, 1959,
and because of an allowance from emergency funds of the State of $14,861
for shelving and other equipment needed in the Baltimore Record Cen-
ter. Since the salary scales have all been recently altered I have thought
it proper to print them here for your information.

Receipts from photostating, microfilming, certifying, and the
sale of publications were higher this year than ever before. However,
the total receipts were somewhat less than in 1957 because of the
smaller sum received from the sale of waste paper.
