26 TWENTY-THIRD ANNUAL REPORT

respondence of Henry Callister, an Eastern Shore merchant. Most of the
papers fall within the period 1741-1766, although there are a few items dated
later, including a small group of items relating to Mrs. Callister's School,
1783-1788. Callister had a wide correspondence and such prominent Mary-
land names as Tilghman, Lloyd, Goldsborough, Bordley and Hollyday appear
frequently among these papers.

Our collection of family Bible records was enriched by items relating
to the Backer, Deaver, Gaither, Hill, Horsey, McKenney and Tull families.
