Capital from 1927 through 1939, completing a project which has been going
on for several years.

FILMING TO PRESERVE ACCURACY:

Finally, as a new venture this year, we filmed the Proceedings of the
General Assembly of 1955 each day after adjournment and before they were
sent to the printer. This use of microfilm provided, of course, an insurance
copy against loss of all or part of the Proceedings, which must be taken to
Baltimore for printing; but its primary purpose was to provide a check for
accuracy against the printed volume. No other procedure could have served
this purpose so cheaply, nor could we have done it so quickly were it not for
the automatic microfilm camera which was acquired two years ago, primarily
for use by the Records Management Division.

A list of the individual items photocopied for our collections—public
documents, library or archives—will be found in this report under those head-
ings.
