and we decided in favor of the latter because the records of more individuals
would be preserved in the event any courthouse was destroyed. We were
not able to complete the work through 1950 as we had hoped. We had
only the same amount of money that had been available the previous year
for the Wills, and we found that the Proceedings were greater in volume,
especially during the later years in the large counties. We also found that
in some counties the records before 1850 had not been filmed. The list
given below will indicate what we were able to do in each county.

Beginning with July 1, 1952, county microfilming is in the hands
of the new Microfilm Division of the Hall of Records. We are hopeful that
we will be able before the year is up to complete the Orphans' Court Pro-
ceedings through 1950 and perhaps to begin filming the Proceedings of the
County Courts which exist at present only in unique copies, at the Hall
of Records for the period before 1788 and in the courthouses after that
date.
