same rate as during the last few years. They came from fortyone states and
four foreign countries. The majority of inquiries had to do with genealogy
and local history, but every other possible subject was represented: laws,
charters, incidents in state history, institutional history, archival procedure,
location of records and so forth. A comparison of the number of letters for
the past three years follows:
