GAME AND INLAND FISH COMMISSION

At the request of the Game and Inland Fish Commission, we exam'
ined on September 24, 1948, certain records of the Commission and its
predecessor agencies. They were stored in a small room in the basement
of the Munsey Building in Baltimore. The room was so crowded that
about half of the material could not be seen at all, but it was apparent
from what we could see and from what we were told by the Secretary of
the Commission that none of it was worthy of preservation at the Hall of
Records. The records were refused and on October 19, 1948 we were
informed by the Secretary of the Board of Public Works that their destruc-
tion had been authorised. We have not yet received a certificate of destruc-
tion or list of the records destroyed, although, presumably, the destruction
has been effected by now. The list below is admittedly inadequate and was
not intended as a final list, but it will at least give some idea as to the
nature of the material involved. The dates and the quantities are both
estimated.

Correspondence, 1922-194 3, 45 transfer cases.

Vouchers, 1924-1943, 20 transfer cases.

Game Warden Reports, 19284943, 15 transfer cases.

Short Term Hunting Licenses, 1933-1943, 5 transfer cases.

Clerk of Court Monthly Reports, 1935-1943, 5 transfer cases.

Cancelled Checks, 1935-1943, 5 transfer cases.
